ln 1951 in northern Brittany, farmers digging a well find white earth… kaolin is discovered !
For 50 years SOKA has been working this unique deposit located near Saint-Brieuc at Quessoy. Covering over 300 acres, of which just 75 have been worked to date, the deposit was formed by partial alteration of the parent rock dating back 550 million years when Brittany was a mountainous area disturbed by seismic and magma movements.
Today SOKA operates 3 pits, 2 at Quessoy, the 3rd one is located some 15 miles away on a slightly different deposit.
